If you’ve been following my blog then you can see that I’m very passionate. I’m passionate about my music, I’m passionate about my family/friends and I’m passionate to make an impact on the world. I’ve been making hip-hop since I was 12 years old but there’s something special occurring in my musical realm that I’d like to share with the digi-verse. The more I listen to the music, the more my ear for sound is beginning to change. I love everything hip-hop is, but I was starting to feel like something was missing.
I didn’t feel the same love I felt at 12 years old anymore. And that’s not a bad thing. love changes, love grows, love transforms.
What happened to my love you ask?
Life happened to my love.
Will my love still laugh? Will my love still smile? Will my love become old and tired?
I started to question my love.
“Hip-Hop, remember when we met? You seemed so innocent and distant. You seemed so alluring and ancient. What happened to you? Why don’t you love yourself anymore? Was it me? Did I give you too much weight to carry? These days, your beautiful voice has become noise & your beautiful eyes have become lies. I want to baptize you in my tears but I can’t cry for you, I’m only human. It would take the tears of 40 oceans to see you smile again…”
With these questions I began to search…
That’s when I created Value Pack 2: Cream and Sugar. You can hear a lot of my emotion drifting in this mixtape and it reflected those feelings. The reason I’m sitting at my computer writing this blog is because a curtain has been open and I have to share it with you.
Ever since the release of Value Pack 2, I’ve completed an EP with my friend/brother: Rossy in our group called “VIBE” and there’s something I have to say. Not only has my love for music changed but I haven’t felt this passionate about a project in a while.
Those conversations with hip-hop have changed. Those feelings of uncertainty have evaporated like water under a summer sun.
Purpose is rising from my garden. I believe if you find purpose in your life, you have officially defined your reason of existence.

Songs I’m Writing: {Episode 1} Dear Talya
Here’s a song I made inspired by my homegirl Talya. I met her at the end of 2007 around the time I left college to pursue my dreams of being a rapper and I think I wanna put this on my album. I’m writing a lot of songs while I’m home in San Diego and I’ll be posting videos/lyrics on the blog to give you guys a sneak peak of what I’m working on. Feel free to read along!

As if Cream and Sugar wasn’t enough for your morning cup of coffee, Chris Young comes to serve you an overdose of lyrical speciality that has yet to be heard across the world…YET. The beauty of Value Pack 2 is the nostalgia that is embedded into the sweat and tears of this quick-witted Master of Ceremonies.The remembrance comes from certain songs such as Paris Remix which dates back to a song called “Close Your Eyes”a song inspired by his trip to Paris,France. With hardcore and elaborate emphasis on self belief, we venture into the true idealistic mind of this “philosopher/poet”as he takes us through the different flavors of his mind. Were first served when we wake up to our first cup of “Cream and Sugar”. This song brings a witty conversation between a slightly awakened, slightly dreamfilled side of Chris Young. As we progress through the verses we are slowly awaken by the lyrical styles that are intwined into every tablespoon of cream and sugar. We find that Chris Young is no different from us, he is just another man looking to find his dream in a world filled with others pursuing the same dream, yet the difference is the self-belief and fearlessness that often buckles many from their pursuit. Its a bit pass tea time, and we find ourselves taking a few snacks with the thought provoking song “Keep It Nastee” which reminds me of a Dead Man Freestyle…part 2. Freestyles is where Chris shines, and shows you how much of a Legend he is. “The Crave” is one of my favorite songs on the Value Pack 2 Album. This song delivers a cute vocal that puts a colorful design on the title of the song. I imagine sitting down to drink my cream and sugar, and a beautiful lady comes into a small corner coffee shop. Chris Youngs lyrics provide the subliminal conversation made between you, and her;the playful enjoyment of eye contact, and imagined hands held that comes with the ideal of a new infatuation.The eccentric style, and beautiful weather of the west coast is what I feel when I’m “West Coasting”. Its a relaxed vybe that consist of cool highs, and an atmosphere that inspires the word “Californication”, but don’t stay relaxed to long. “Perserverence”is the opening theme to the movie “The passion of Chris Young”, and we are humbly watching as he inspires us all to rise above our situation and make this life our own. “Biggie Smalls Is The Illest”true words spoken by the unbelievable artist Chris Young. The resemblance between Christopher Wallace, and Chris Young comes from the insane ability to vividly capture the words that come instantly to both their minds. So what more proves “Human Nature” than lust, and intoxication. We move from lust filled rhymes to a study session on “Hip Hop History” that gives reverence back to the culture of Hip Hop. We continue on with the study session by paying more attention to the “Black Cycles” of our history, which inspire us all to find love in each other. Chris Young’s “Favorite Poem” is a song that is deeply en rooted in the belief that Love is the true finding of knowledge, and that both can be used to the improvement of mankind. You find a slight somber as we phrase through these undulating rhymes that leave you feeling a bit empty, yet a bit filled emotionally,mentally, and physically. Value Pack 2 is a jam packed, emotionally filled, and colorful way to view your daily life. Your awoken to “Cream and Sugar”then motivating self with “Peserverence”, while also finding yourself having a “Crave” while motioning through the “Black Cycles” of life. You than arrive with “Party Animals”hoping to “Feel Good” as you find yourself feeling the emotions of love and lost with “My Favorite Poem”. Luckily at the end of this emotionally filled day, you find yourself in “Paris” enjoying a cup of coffee. ~Brandin Johnson
